Three Alpinists Rescued
•N.Z Press Association— Copwtohtl PARIS, December 30. A French Army colonel and his two sons are safe today after being lost last night on Mont Blanc in temperatures 18deg Fahrenheit below freezing point. Shortly after an Alpine rescue party had returned to Chamonix after an unsuccessful search for the missing trio, one of the sons telephoned from a mountain village saying they were safe and unharmed.
Two other alpinists who were earlier reported missing returned to Chamonix this evening. They
said they had not been in danger. Snowploughs today ended five days of isolation of the 860 villagers of Fay-sur-Lignon, in central France. The village was cut off by snowdrifts piled up by the Christmas blizzard.
