Chaplain’s TV Debut
'N.Z Press Association Copyright LONDON, Dec. 30 The Rev. Simon Phipps, a 35y ear-old bachelor, who is a friend of Princess Margaret, made a surprise debut as a television announcer yesterday. He appeared on commercial television in clerical garb and told reviewers: “You may be surprised to see a parson giving this review of the programmes. But I have been asked to announce them including one in which I appear. ‘About Religion.’ ”
Mr Phipps, chaplain to Trinity College, Cambridge, has known the Princess since her schooldays and is one of her closest confidants. He has written revue lyrics and last year worked as a factory hand in Coventry.
