GOODWILL NEEDED, SAYS MENZIES
(Rec. 7 p.m.) CANBERRA, January L The Australian Prime Minister (Mr Menzies) in a New Year message today said: “Internationally our anxieties continue. Our great task will be to maintain our strength and readiness and to co-operate with our friends, while losing no opportunity to make new friends, to resolve old differences and to help to bring into closer understanding those people all over the world who, confronted by the terrible threat of what another war could mean, are praying for peace as never before. “Peace on earth can be produced only by goodwill among men. If 1958 can bring this goodwill nearer, it will be the best New Year of our time.**
