The Awapuni candidates Resemblance and Maquana .will dominate the betting on the £l6OO Wairarapa Cup, the principal event and first leg of the douWe on the opening day of the Wairarapa Racing Club’s summer meeting at Tauherenikau on Wednesday. Tne second leg is the Wardell Handicap, of seven furlongs, for which the Awapuni winner Kaye Gilpin and Summersette will be well supported. Some rain fell today, but not sufficient to affect the track. The forecast is for fair weather on Wednesday. Doubtful starters include True Cavalier, Masai, Swaps, Chum, Selection, Hot Rod, Hot Drop, Privy Council and Sanroll. Saless will run at Tauherenikau in preference to Marton, and Gay Cavalier will start in the Wharekaka Handicap instead of the Russell High-weight. Jockeys’ mounts include:—W. L.
