Golden Luca May Win "The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON. December 30. Golden Luca, which was narrowly beaten by Oracle at his last start in the Louisson Handicap at the Manawatu meeting, will be a firm favourite for the Marton Cup, the first leg of the double at the Marton Jockey Club’s summer meeting on Wednesday.

Golden Luca’s principal opponent will be Gundar Haegg, which was an unlucky fourth in the Freyberg Handicap at Awapuni last Saturday. Brookside is reported a doubtful starter in the cup.

The second leg of the double is the Stanford Hack Cup, in which Savage, Royal Target, Amah and Sarabelle have the best form. Royal Target, which had a win and a second in two starts at Manawatu, will race in this event in preference to the Welcome Highweight. The well-performed Bamboo, which is engaged at Wairarapa and Hastings, as well as at Marton, will start in the McManaway Memorial Stakes for three-year-olds at Marton, and is certain to be an outstanding favourite. Since her return from Australia she has won twice and run a close second in three starts.
