Speedboat Regatta At Lake Rotoiti
(New Zealand Press Association) NELSON. December 29. The southern zone unlimited auto bottom speedboat championship was the main event decided at the Lake Rotoiti speedboat regatta. The event was won by D. B. Syme (New Brighton) in Pacific Spot, with Javelin (R. Savage. Christchurch) second, and A. Jay (McCaa, Murchison) third.
_ Syme also won the Oxnam Cup and the McCaa Cup in Pacific Spot. The South Island 266 c.i. hydroplane championship was won on Saturday by R. Gill (Nelson), driving Joe PE. Smokey Joe (C Broadbridge) was second and Second Fling (M. Watson) third The time was 4min 59sec over a four-lap course from a moving start
