Man Drowned In Lake Wakitipu
(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, December 29. A man was drowned and a man and three children were rescued from Lake Wakatipu when a canoe capsized at Queenstown last night. The dead man is Alexander Cameron Beker, aged 32, married, with seven children, a sawmiller, of Kauana, Winton. The others in the canoe were Allan Nicholl, of Alexander, a brother-in-law of the missing man, and his three sons, Peter. Brian and Keith Nicholl. The accident occurred in the Queenstown Bay about 9.30 p.m. The lake was choppy at the time.
