Talbert’s “Hardest Decision”
NEW YORK, December 27. The United States Davis Cup captain, Bill Talbert, said today that he made the toughest decision of his life when he scratched Gardner Mulloy from the challenge round doubles and used young Barry Mackay as Vie Seixas’s partner instead, American Associated Press reported from Melbourne. “After all,’* said Talbert,
“Mulloy Is one of my oldest and best friends. We’ve played doubles together all over the world. It was the hardest decision I’ve ever made. I could hardly get up the nerve to tell him.”
