30 Rescued From Sinking Ship
(Rec. 8 p.m.) COPENHAGEN, Dec. 26.
A Danish motor-ship rescued 30 persons from a sinking schooner in the Indian Ocean last night, according to radio reports reaching Copenhagen. The motor-ship. Alva Maersk, is now on her way to Fremantle, West Australia, with the occupants of the schooner, which came from Gadu in the Maidive Islands, the report said.
1272 Times Round The Earth.— The first Soviet Sputnik will have circled the earth 1272 times by 3 a.m. G.M.T. tomorrow and the second Sputnik will have completed 758 revolutions, the Soviet news agency Tass said yesterday.—Moscow, Dec. 27.
