Johnny Derby Picked “The Press’’ Special Service INVERCARGILL, December 27. Indications are for fine weather and a firm track for the Winton Trotting Club’s summer rheeting tomorrow. Form at Gore is expected to be a reliable guide, but there will be a considerable thinning out in the fields, as many horses have been nominated ahead. The double will be on the Winton Handicap and the Improver's Handicap No. 2, for which Johnny Derby and Montague may be the respective favourites. Scratchings include:— Novice Handicap No. 1: Afton Loch. Improvers’ Handicap No. 1: Annapurna. Robert Dillon. Winton Trotting Club Handicap: Dilossa, Lord Balfour, Harewood’s Pride,'Sir Timothy Drastic. Improvers’ Handicap No. 2: Kentucky Club, Zonadale, Horatio, Irish Idyll. Borough Handicap: Robert Dillon. Selections:— 11' a.m.: South Hillend Handicap: Garadale, Cherry Bounce, Loyal Eagle. 11.45 a.m.—Novice Handicap No. 1: Marching Thru, True Fight, Craignair. 12.30 p.m.—lmprovers’ Handicap No. 1: Squire’s Lady, Dunvegan Castle, Lincoln Fair. 1.15 pm.—Winton Trotting Club Handicap: Johnny Derby, Good Fight, Red Fyre. 2 p.m.—Novice Handicap No. 2: Young Sister, Light Mood, Zonadale. 2.45 p.m.—lmprovers’ Handicap No. 2: Montague, Queenson, General Mark. 3.30 p.m.—President’s Handicap: Swiss Admiral, Whirlwind, Tara. 4.15 p.m.—Borough Handicap: Ley’s Pride, vinola’s Luck, Rustic Boy.
