One-Legged Man’s World Trip
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) BANGKOK, December 9. A 32-year-old Englishman with only one leg has arrived at Bangkok after doing 29.000 miles of an around-the-world hitch-hike. The hitch-hiker, Mr Leslie Walker, of Liverpool, has been travelling 14 months on crutches. After his visit to New Zealand he returned to Singapore and hitch-hiked to Alor Star, in the northern State of Kedah. The police were hospitable to him there, put him up at the station, and made a collection for a second-class fare for him to Bangkok. His itinerary from here: India. Pakistan, Persia, Syria, Jordan. Lebanon. Turkey, the Aegean Islands. Greece. Italy. Switzerland. France, Scandiniva and back to Liverpool.
