Life-Saving SUMNER MEETS ST. CLAIR
Surfing memories of twenty-five years ago were revived when members of the St. Clair (Dunedin) and Sumner clubs gathered for the silver jubilee of their first contest at the week-end. Older members of the Sumner club present at. the first meeting of the two clubs attended. A social function was held on the Saturday evening in the old Sumner pavilion—the last to be held, there, since it has been sold to the Sumner Cricket Club. The Good Fellowship trophy was retained by St. Clair when they beat Sumner for the six-man rescue and resuscitation competition. Results were:— Junior Surf Race.—A. McPhail (Sumner) 1. B. Six-man Rescue and Resuscitation. —St. Clair 1, Sumner 2, Sumner juniors 3. Surf Ski Relay.—St. Clair A 1, Sumner B 2, Sumner A 3. Beach Sprint.—J. Roberts (Sumner) 1, N. Marson (Sumner) 2, D. Ruhen (St. Clair) 3. Beach Relay.—St. Clair A 1, Sumner A 2, Sumner B 3.
