Lawn Tennis OPAWA NIGHT MATCHES
A strong United team was beaten by Opawa when seventh round matches in the inter-club night tennis competition for the Opawa Challenge Cup were played recently. Three teams—South Brighton, United and Opawa—are In the lead with one loss each. Results were:— United v. Opawa Women's Doubles.—Misses L. Luxton and S. Murray lost to Mesdames B. Lee and J. Armstrong, 6-7. Men's Doubles.—B. G. Pattlnson and B. Stedman lost to I. Armstrong and S. Clarke, 3-9. Mixed Doubles.—Miss L. Luxton and B. G. Pattlnson beat Mrs J. Armstrong and I. Armstrong, 10-1; Miss S. Murray and B. Stedman lost to Mrs B. Lee and S. Clarke. 3-9. Opawa won by 3 sets to 1. Sumner v. North Unwood Women's Doubles. Mesdames Ferguson and Heasey drew with Masses B. Wilkie and M. Haddington, Men's Doubles*—A. Ferguson and B. Blair lost to J. Adams and J. Brown. 3-10. Mixed u ales.—Mrs A. Ferguson and A. Ferguson beat Miss B. Wilkie and J. Adams, 10-2; Mrs Hessey and B. Blair drew with Miss Reddington and J. Browne, 6-6. Sumner won by 34 games to 23. South Brighton ▼. Linwood Ave. Women's Doubles.—Mesdames P. Boatwood and A. Atkinson beat Mrs* K. Jane and B. Blackburn, 10-0. Men’s Doubles.—V. Jones and A. Atkinson beat H. Blackburn and M. Mitchell. 11-4. Mixed Doubles*—Mias P. Boatwood and V. Jones beat Miss B. Blackbum and H. Blackburn. 12-3; Mrs A. Atkinson and A. Atkinson beat Mrs K. Jane and M. Mitchell. 10-6. South Brighton won by 4 sets to 0.
