COACHING SCHOOL AT AUCKLAND
Practice On Doctored Pitches (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 2. Eighteen young cricketers, many potential New Zealand representatives, will know all about doctored pitches before the New Zealand coaching school, which began at Eden Park today, ends next Saturday. W. M. Wallace, the official coach, explained that it was useless to practise on perfect wickets all the time. “The idea is to conduct this school just like a full-scale overseas tour,” he said. “The tour of England’ is next year, and some of the players in the school must be in the running.” Two national selectors, H. G. Vivian (Auckland) and L. D. Smith (Otago) watched the opening session. They will be joined by the third selector, H. B. Cave (Central Districts).
