Raugiora

Sir. —I see that Rangiora is not to join with Kaiapoi in its advance programme; therefore we are by-passed for Amberley It is time we had a more progressive council. Some of the older residents own too many houses and don’t want properties cut up because they say the rates will go up. Therefore we stagnate. 1 see the Mayor and councillors say they can plan better without expense. They might if they advance their ideas 20 years. T*here is good land for sections waiting to be cut up, but the borough restrictions are too hard for anybody to afford to do this. Why should derelict houses be renovated into flats, four flats put on a section not pig enough for one house, and progressive ideas turned down?—Yours, etc., ADVANCE RANGIORA. December 2, 1957.
