Tomarchin Guarded At Pitcairn
(New Zealand Prens Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 1.
The castaway-stowaway, Robert Tomarchin, arrived off Pitcairn Island today in the Rangitata. which is due at Auckland on December 8, but was given no chance to land. He was in the isolation hospital at the ship’s stern with two of the crew and an officer on guard and had to remain there until the ship was 70 miles away from Pitcairn.
His Pitcairn Island friends were not permitted to see him and no messages were accepted. A hand-wave through the porthole as the Rangitata drew away from the Pitcairn surfboats was the only thing to be seen of Mr Tomarchin.
