DAKOTA FLIES TO POLE
Engine For Neptune • Delivered Lieutenant Commander C. S. Shinn. United States Navy, landed a Dakota aircraft at the South Pole on Sunday and delivered a Neptune engine and mail to the Pole station, according to information received at the United States Expedition headquarters in Christchurch yester-. day.
The engine was for the Neptune stranded at the Pole since October 26 awaiting engine change. Because of the heavy load the Dakota required refuelling at the Liv Glacier both wavs. It v«s Lieutenant Commander Shinn’s seventh Pole landing.
