QUOTATIONS IN CHRISTCHURCH

STERLING FIRMER Overseas Exchange Rates Sterling made small gains on the dollar currencies last week. The £ now buys 1 cent more of United States currency and 3 cents more of Canadian' currency than it did a month ago. The change was brought about rather by a weakening of the dollar currencies over the last few weeks than by a strengthening of sterling, for there has been little change in the rates as between Britain and most Continental countries. Telegraphic transfer exchange rates, as advised yesterday by the Bank of New South Wales, are as follows: „ _ Buying. Selling.
