SUBURBAN MATCHES

Sumner Scores • Well

The fourth round of the suburban cricket competition commenced on Saturday in beautiful sunshine, with conditions favouring the batsmen. All senior games are in very interesting positions. On a lively wicket at Richmond K.P. could only total 146 against Beckenham, whose bowlers were steadier than usual. Beckenham started well, having 75 for two wickets at stumps. Matchless batted in its usual bright manner and seems to have Waltham struggling to pass its total of 180. With 77 for three wickets Waltham could still gain its first success of the season. Sumner’s total of 263 looks beyond the capabilities of the New Brighton batsmen. Scores were:— SENIOR A C.K.P. 146 (Bennett 33, Thompson 30, Steele 22; Tibbotts four for 35.
