Differences between the students and school systems in New Zealand and the United States (were given by Miss Phyllis Put;nam in an address to the Spring- ; field Rotary Club, Vermont. Miss I Putnam, who is a mathematics | teacher at the Springfield High i School, spent a year in Danneivirke as an exchange teacher. A I newspaper report on the address has been received in Christchurch.
The Springfield students were more inventive and original and assumed greater responsibility in the running of the school, said Miss Putnam. On the other hand the Dannevirke students were more careful in their work, had neater and better prepared notebooks. beautiful penmanship, were required to act, dress and behave more formally both in the school and in other public places, had better posture and were more conscious of their health. She said she had 'become conscious of many ways in which she could improve her teaching techniques during the year.
