AID TO CRIPPLED CHILDREN
4000 Miles Covered For Transport More than 4000 miles were covered in the last two months transporting children to and from hospital, clinics, doctors’ rooms and in visiting them in their homes, says a report from the general committee of the Christchurch branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society. Children recently placed in employment had been visited at their work, and in every case both employer and employed had been happy with the arrangements made “The emphasis is laid more and more by the society on the absorption of handicapped young folk into the normal life of the community and the; field officers are endeavouring all the time to assist these young folk to find their right niche in life.” the report says
The secretary reported that invitations were already coming in for various Christmas festivities Twenty small boys, who are registered with the society, will be riding in a toy train in a Christmas pageant, 12 others will go to a party, and a number of boys and girls have been invited to a special Christmas matinee. Arrangements were put in hand for all the 650 children registered to be remembered by the society at Christmas. Members of the committee greatly admired the new cushions and curtains in the societv’s rooms, a gift to help brighten the rooms from the members of the; Beckenham Townswomen’s Guild.
