Short-Priced Tulloch
(N.Z. Press Association—Copuriaht) BRISBANE. November 14.
Tulloch is expected to start at a record low price for Queensland in the Q.T.C. Derby at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
The previous shortest ever known was 7-1 on for High Syce, when he won the Stanley Plate at Eagle Farm in 1928.
1 Tulloch is likely to start at much shorter odds. Tulloch will have only two
opponents and expectations are that he will be at odds approaching 40-1 on—the price quoted about Ajax when he was defeated by Spear Chief at Rosehill in 1939.
i Tulloch started at 10-1 on when, he won the Victoria Derby last Saturday week, and the opposiItion on Saturday is well below' ' what he met at Flemington. I I The colt arrived in Brisbane by air today, and he will have! light exercise before a stronger! workout tomorrow with the jockey G. Moore up. Moore and Tulloch’s trainer. T. J. Smith, arrived in Brisbane today.
Auditor recorded an outstanding run to win yesterday and he should repeat that effort in the second leg of the double, the Le Lievre Handicap. Auditor is in great form at present and has not yet come to the end of his winning run.
Scottish Command, Genghis Khan, Bobby Brigade and Showdown are others expected to race well.
Tobacco Road is expected to be a short-priced favourite for the New Zealand Derby Stakes. He recorded a fine trial when second to Gay Baron in the Riccarton Stakes on Tuesday.
Diamond Hanover was unluckly in the Riccarton Stakes. He is better than that effort suggested and he should at least be placed. Seafield Lad. Sebabu. Gay Baron, Whippy Dillon and Zany appeal most of the remainder.
