Dignus Has An Easy Win In The Hornby

Dignus made a long overdue return to winning form when he outslayed his opponents in the Hornby Handicap at Addington yesterday. Suzendy, Dignus, and Somerset Lad led out, Dignus working clear before the end of two and a half furlongs. Derive, which had been a little slow, raced round the field to take control with nine furlongs to run. Derive stopped badly with just under three furlongs left, and Dignus raced clear to turn for home with a length and a half advantage over Esteem. Suzendy was a similar distance back. next, ahead of Scottish Fair. Derive. Glint. Don Hall. Lady Shona, and Light Nurse. Dignus did not look like being caught and he won easily by four lengths from Esteem, which raced right up to her winning run of the first day of the meeting. Johnny Hall, after being handy all the way. finished on well for second without ever looking likely to trouble the winner. Spaxton was strongly challenged over the last furlong, but he lasted long enough to win convincingly by a length. In a great struggle for the other placings, Capuil got up for second. Cat’s Luck Wins Well Cat's Luck, a useful fourth on the first, day, followed up that effort with a decisive win in the Yaldhurst Handicap. She was the early leader, but was steadied behind Serenelli before the end of three and a half furlongs. Serenelli set a strong pace and was still in command racing to the straight where she was a length and a half in front of Cat's Luck, with a similar distance to White Wings and Egyptian Rose, and four lengths to Native Cord. Dan’s Choice, Willow Dale and Air Command. Cat’s Luck quickly raced past Serenelli and came on to win very easily. Air Command did well to finish second. He broke with less than six furlongs to run and gave the leaders a big start at the halfmile.
