INDUSTRIAL SAFETY
Work Of Association
“A number of member firms have shown quite considerable reductions in their accident rate and it is confidently expected that as more firms become aware of the need to institute a sound safety programme the improvement will be reflected in the national accident statistics.’’ says the annual report of the Workers’ Compensation Board, discussing the work of the National Safety Association of New Zealand. "With field officers now active in the four main centres the aims and objects of the association arc being widely publicised. The membership has continued to expand and at March 31 it stood at 400. covering 150.000 workers. Included among the members is the Public Service Commission which covers 35 Government department. and 53.000 employees." says the report. The association had continued to concentrate on “in-plant” safetv in industry and the activities of the field "officers had been concentrated largely on this. Conti med progress had been made in the field of agricultural safety.
