Expedition Near South Ice
(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON. Nov. 14. The British trans-Antarctic expedition’s vehicle party radioed its London headquarters last night that it expected to reach the base of South Ice within a few hours. South Ice is the advance depot 170 miles inland from Shackleton which is the expedition’s Vahsel Bay base. The expedition leader. Dr. V. Fuchs, told the headquarters that the vehicle party had at last safely negotiated a very badly crevassed area through which it had been struggling.
