RELEGATION OF RECRUIT
Owner Lodges Appeal
After the running of the 1 Dominion Handicap at Addington yesterday an objection was lodged by the stipendiary stewards against first placing being awarded to Recruit on the grounds of galloping. After hearing tne evidence, it was decided to promote Durban Chief to first, and Barravey to second, Recruit was relegated to third.
The owner of Recruit (Mr J. Rooney) has lodged an appeal against the stewards’ decision. A summary inquiry was held into the barrier manners of Manana after the Yaldhurst Handicap. Her trainer-driver. A. R. McKenzie, was told that some improvement must be shown otherwise action would be taken.
After the Hornby Handicap, F. E. Newfield, driver of Suzendy, was reprimanded for the manner in which he drove his horse. Before the Yaldhurst Handicap, it was found that N. S. G. Watson, trainer-owner of Deportment, had weighed out to drive the horse without having a horseman’s licence. He was fined £lO for the offence.
A summary inquiry was held into an accident in the Cashmere Handicap. It was found that White Caps broke without receiving interference and checked a number of horses, including Golden Chimes, Responsive and Vierosa.
