CLERGYMEN’S “CATCH”
Deer Tows Boat For Quarter-niile
(New Zealand Press Association) ROTORUA. November 14. Two Anglican clergymen fishing on Lake Okataina yesterday made a catch that towed their ‘boat a quarter of a mile—a feat calculated to shake any fisherman. But neither the Rev. Peter Galon, of Wellington, nor the Rev. Rex Clark, of Claudelands, is going to stagger home under a trophy that, stuffed, mounted and suitably inscribed, would stretch from end to end of the mantelpiece, for the catch was no old man I rout, but a doer.
A doc. about the size of a ponv. was apparently chased into the water bv a dog. The two r lergymen chased it. put a dog-collar on it, and. using the anchor rope, started to tow it back to shore. But the doe took charge and the boat was towed there at a smart clip—so fast that the boat was in danger of being dragged into the undergrowth and the two men freed the doe a few yards from the bank. It crashed off into the bush and the two clergymen returned to their fishing.
