(Neto Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. November 1-1. The Wellington City Council's ‘■procedure committee" has declared in favour of retainin’ the present form o* determining open
and committee business. The committee was set up at a recent council meeting after a proposal that all council business be taken in open council. In a statement to the council last night the Mayor (Mr F. J. Kitts. M.P.) said: “The council [should be master of its own procedure in determining what matters should or should not be taken in open council.” I It was considered the present ; system, whereby committees or committee chairmen decided i “committee" matters, was satisfactory. It was open to any councillor to move that an item be taken in open council.
