Campaign Against Seal Raiders
(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, November 13. Stcn guns, automatics and rifles in the hands of members of the rifle clubs along the Yorkshire coast are to be used soon against salmon-poaching seals at Whitby. According to complaints by fishermen to the North-eastern Fisheries Committee, the seals are becoming more voracious and more cunning every day.
Licensed fishermen say tha seals are not only a menace t( salmon, but to valuable nets a: well.
It was said that such were th' seals’ depredations that soon i might not be worth taking out salmon licence.
The committee has decided t carry out a full-scale campaigi against the raiders.
