Mobile Barrier Tried

j The mobile barrier, which will be I used for the first time in the South Island for the New Zealand Flying Stakes at Addington on Saturday. November 23. was given several trial runs at Addington yesterday afterI noon. Driven by Mr Ross Corrigan, the barrier was given one run round the Addington track, followed round the outside by a motor-car. The barrier was driven at 25 miles an hour, and the motor-car had to ' maintain a speed of about 32 miles ■an hour to hold its position. ! As a result of yesterday's run it jseems that the barrier will have to jbe driven at about 21 or 22 miles an I hour in the actual race. However, another trial will be held next Monday if the weather is fine. It is intended that horses engaged in the Addington race will have an opportunity to have a trial behind the barrier on Tuesday and Thursday of next week.
