Mr W. J. Mac Gibbon
To Retire
A recommendation that Mr W. J. Mac Gibbon, the retiring president of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society, be made a life member of the society will be made to its annual meeting, next Wednesday. Mr Mac Gibbon. who has been president since 1948. is not seeking re-election to the council on which he has sat since 1934. Mr Mac Gibbon was for several years the society's delegate on the council of South Island Acclimatisation Societies, a mem-| ber of the animal ecology section and also the freshwater fisheries: advisory council. The executive committee last night reported that Mr Mac Gibbon’s keen knowledge and understanding of the various problems fitted him admirably for all these positions and his opinions were always sought after and appreciated.
