Subsidised Student Health Plan

The council of the University of Canterbury has approved, a plan for a student health service, which, if accepted by the Government. would qualify for a Government subsidy. The object of the scheme is to prevent the development of ill-health among students. A report on the plan was made to the council yesterday oy the chairman of the student health committee (the Very Rev Martin Sullivan) It will be referred to t’ Director of Clinical Services of the Health Department . The service offers every student the opportunity of a yearly interview with a medical officer, followed by a general physical examination and arrangements from the treatment of any illness found. It is hoped that a subsidised scheme will be operating by the beginning of next year. •
