Springs County Works
Sir, —Can the Springs County councillors tell us why they are spending so much money in Lincoln, when they cannot find money or time to do anything in the Springston area? Along the Burnham road every vehicle that passes sends clouds of dust into the homes of those living on that road. The council trucks are the worst offenders in stiring up the dust. In Lincoln they can find time and money to put in channelling and tarseal their footpaths; in Springston we have no channelling and only rough footpaths and long grass (if the residents don’t cut it). Along the main Leeston road the sides of the roads are a disgrace to any council. Huge mounds of earth taken from the drains for the past two or three years are still there, blocking the water from getting off the road.—Yours, etc., TIME FOR A CHANGE. October 18, 1957.
[The clerk of the Springs County Council replies: “My council does not wish to comment on an anonymous letter, except to say that the information is readily available at the council office.]
