DAVID HENRY SCHOLARSHIP

Award To Mr B. Robert

A David Henry Scholarship has been won by Mr Barry Robert, of Auckland. Mr Robert will attend the Institute of Technology, Washington. D.C., where he will study mechanical problems involved in the manufacture of dry fibre and particle board. Mr Robert, who is 28. is married, with one child. He studied engineering at the Seddon Memorial Technical College for four years and later attended evening classes there while studying for A.M.I.Meeh.E., of which he is a graduate member. He was with the Auckland Development Laboratories for four years and a half before joining the engineering department of New Zealand Forest Products, Ltd., five years ago. The scholarships and fellowships were endowed by Sir David Henry for the advancement of education and knowledge in the field of forest establishment, maintenance and utilisation. The number, value and tenure of the scholarships and studentships is decided each year by a selection board. Each year £l2OO is available. “We must be aware of the role of the technician in the development of our country,’’ said Sir David Henry. chairman and managing director of New Zealand Forest Products, Ltd. “We must build up a background of technical ability by enabling promising young men to carry out postgraduate st nd v.”
