SOVIET ATTACK ON MR DULLES
Critical Article In “Pravda” (A'.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10.40 p.m.) LONDON, October 21. 1 he, Soviet Oommunist Party newspaper “Pravda” today returned to the attack on the United States Secretary of State, Mr Dulles, “for having once again brought things to the brink of war.” The article followed a weekend of reassurances from Turkey in the border crisis with Syria. Cairo reports said the Egyptian Government had received a Note from Turkey saying that she had no intention of attacking Syria. It was also reported from a reliable source in Beirut that the President of Turkey (Mr Celal Baver) had given a similar pledge to King Saud of Saudi Arabia. The Iraqi Government said in an official statement issued in Bagdad last night that it was confident that Turkey had no aggressive intentions towards “sisterly Syria.”
