Mr Justice Stanton Retires From Bench
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. October 20.
Mr Justice Stanton stepped down from the Bench of the Supreme Court on Friday afternoon for the last time. He has retired from the Judiciary after serving for nine years and a half. The Auckland Court was crowded with barristers to hear the president of the Auckland District Law Society (Mr B. C. Haggitt) extol the Judge’s work. Afterwards a group photograph was taken.
With his Honour were Mr Justice Finlay, Mr Justice North, Mr Justice Turner, Mr Justice Shetland, and Mr Justice T. A. Gresson. •
It was announced earlier last week that Mr Justice Stanton had been appointed chairman of the Royal Commission on local body finance.
