The inside-left, Johnny Haynes, put England ahead 2-0 at half-time with a goal in the thirty-eighth minute. Wales hardly had a scoring chance in either half, and further goals by the outside-left, Tom Finney (63 minutes), and Haynes (70 minutes) completed an easy England win.
