LICENSING ACT BREACHES

Restaurant Company Fined £25 (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. October 20. Five charges of Licensing Act breaches preferred against Edwards Food Company. Ltd., proprietors of “The Skyline" drive-in dance restaurant, were admitted in the Magistrate’s Court through the company's counsel (Mr C. I. Patterson' Mr J. B. Thomson. S.M., convicted and fined the company a total of £25 —£5 on each charge. The five charges comprised three of permitting liquor to be drunk in a restaurant after hours and two of permitting liquor to be consumed at a dance. Three other licensing charges preferred against the company and II against the directors of "The Skyline" were all withdrawn by leave of the Court. The restaurant manager. Cecil Anthony Hugh Mcßeath Williamson. was convicted and fined a total of £49 when he pleaded guilty through his counsel to two charges of selling liquor in an unlicensed area.
