NATIONAL PARTY CANDIDATES
’Complete Confidence In Mr Holvoake’’
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. October 20. A resolution expressing complete confidence in the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) and unswerving support for him as leader of the party was carried by acclamation by the National Party candidates' conference in Wellington before it disbanded last night.
In spite of a heavy cold. Mr Holyoake attended both the morning and afternoon sessions of the conference, which was under the chairmanship of the Deputy-Prime Minister (Mr J. R. Marshall). Government members and Ministers. as well as new candidates, were present during the two-day conference, which was mainly concerned with a detailed review ■»f the policy on which the Government will contest the forthcoming General Election. Mr Holyoake told candidates that it was a “good straight-for-ward honest” policy. The Government was not in the field to eutbid Labour and Social Credit.
