U.S. Warships To Leave

(Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, October 19 The United States Sixth Fleet, including units today riding at anchor in the Turkish port of Izmir, will return t> normal operations in the western Mediterranean within a few weeks.

A United Slates Navy announcement last night said that the fleet’s major warships, now visiting several eastern Mediterranean ports after exercises in the area, would head west for Italy within a month.

The statement was made following Soviet claims that the United States was massing military forces in the troubled area around Turkey and Syria.
