THE UNION JACK FLIES OVER AN AMERICAN BUILDING.—The restored old Capitol in Williamsburg, which was the seat of the Government of Virginia from 1699 to 1779, when the capital was removed to Richmond. This link with America’s colonial period is complete even to the British flag which flies over the building. During their visit to the United States, Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh will visit Virginia, where the 350th anniversary of its founding as a British colony is being celebrated.
