Slock Sales ST. ANDREWS ‘The Press’ Special Sermce TIMARU, October 3 Light and unfinished steers and heifers comprised the bulk of the 120 head of fat cattle at St. Andrews sale today. Competition was steadv throughout with values holding firm to late rates. Few store cattle were offered. Values were:— Steers: prime, £37 7s 6d to £42 2s 6d; medium, £2B 2s 6d to £35 2s 6d; light, to £25 2s 6d. Heifers: prime, £27 2s 6d to £35 17s 6d. medium, £2O 2s 6d to £26 2s 6d; light, to £l7 2s 6d. Cows: prime. £26 2s 6d to £3O 2s 6d; light to medium. £l2 2s 6d to £lB 17s 6d.
Olympic Industries.—Olympic Consolidated Industries, Ltd., tyre and cable manufacturers, earned just on 11 per cent, on group shareholders funds in the year to June., These funds now stand at £9l million. They are subject to intangibles of £l' million. Consolidated net profit was £1,035,335 (prev. £1,146.872) after £686.366 (£809,864) tax and £464,987 (£393.823) depreciation and amortisation. Profit was also struck after a £67,000 (prev. nil) interest charge on unsecured notes. Steady 9 per cent, dividend on ordinary capital plus preference charges took £676.403. After bringing in £14.901 (£3591) surplus on sale of fixed assets, £373,779 goes to reserves.— (N.Z.P.A., Melbourne, Oct. 3.)
