SOCIAL CREDIT THEORY
Mr Watts Replies To Mr Owen
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. October 3
“I am astonished that Mr Owen continues to maintain that there is a gap between incomes and prices.” said the Minister of Finance (Mr J. T. Watts) today, replying to the leader of the .Social Credit Political League (Mr W B. Owen).
Mr Owen had asked for a reference to the commission’s report which disposed of this statement, said Mr Watts. The reference was in paragraph 476 of the report, and the gap was referred to also in paragraph 497. “The Monetary Commission made such a thorough analysis of all the evidence submitted by the Social Credit Association that Mr Owen is left without a leg to stand on.” said Mr Watts. The Minister added that the Government had decided not to print the evidence presented to the commission, simply because the costs involved were too great.
