TWO WELLINGTON SEATS
National Party’s Candidates

Mr Max Wall has been '■nosen as the National Party candidate for Wellington Central in the General Election against the sitting member, Mr F. J. Kitts. Mayor of Wellington. Mr Wall is a member of the Wellington City Council. A descendant of a pioneer family Mr Wall is the director of his own motor consultants company in Wellington. He served in World War I as an enginer in the Royal Navy Mr D. J. Riddiford. of Lowry Bay, Eastbourne, was tonight selected as National Party candidate for the Petone electorate in the General Election. He will oppose Mr M. Moohan, M.P. Mr Riddiford was born in Featnerston in 1914 and graduated master of arts, with honours from Oxford University. During World War II he rose to the rank of captain and was awarded the Military Cross. He served with the 7th Anti-tank Regiment and the 6th Field Regiment. In 1941 he was taken prisoner, but escaped in 1943. He held the rank of major in the Territorial Army from 1950 to 1954. He is a barrister and solicitor, and is married, with two children.
