FAREWELL PARTY
Mr And Mrs L. C. Barnes
Mr and Mrs Len C. Barnes, who are well known in Christchurch musical circles, will leave soon to live in Nelson. Last evening a group of former members of the Christchurch Amateur Operatic Society, of which Mr Barnes was founder and musical director for 18 years bid farewell to Mr and Mrs Barnes at a party held in *he National Party clubrooms.
Host and hostess for the evening were Mr and Mrs G. Winterbourn, assisted by Mr and Mrs J Lund and Mr and Mrs W Hamilton Abount 10° guests attended. Mrs Barnes wore a red floral silk frock, simply cut. with the unpressed pleats falling to the ankles from a fitting bodice. Mrs Winterbourn chose a frock of brocaded black and white nylon made in Empire style with a fully-flared skirt. The room was decorated with white daisies and daffodils and red tulips In Nelson Mr Barnes will con-
tinue his interests in music. He will be conducting a male voice choir and will be teaching singing to private pupils.
