BARON BOISSIER SUFFERS COLIC
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, September 17. A highly-fancied Metropolitan candidate, the New Zealand gelding, Baron Boissier, is suffering an attack of colic and can be regarded as an unlikely runner in the big A.J.C. spring handicap. The trainer. Dick Roden, said today that Baron Boissier had developed colic in the early hours of the morning. Roden called a veterinary surgeon, Mr V. Davis, who is treating the horse . \ Baron Boissier did not work at Randwick today. He was too sick to leave the stable. Yesterday Baron Boissier was heavily backed in the Metropolitan with several of the best fancied Epsom candidates. Baron Boissier, which has 9-2 in the Metropolitan, gave a glimpse of his best New Zealand form when he ran an excellent third to Prince Darius and Redcraze in the Chelmsford Stakes at Randwick on Saturday. It was on the strength of that run that the horse was backed for the Metropolitan. Roden will discuss the horse’s programme with the owner in New Zealand this week.
