Situation: A depression over the south Tasman Sea is moving slowly south-eastwards and the associated trough of low pressure is approaching the South Island from the west. Forecast:— Westland and Buller: Winds from a northerly quarter mainly moderate; cloudy to overcast, with rain at times; moderate temperatures. Outlook: showers. Nelson: Moderate northerlies predominating; cloudy to overcast with rain developing during the day; moderate to mild day temperatures. Outlook: occasional showers. Marlborough: North-westerly winds, fresh in Cook Strait, otherwise mainly moderate northerhes predominating; cloudy skies; rein developing later in the day; moderate to mild day temperatures. Outlook: scattered showers. Canterbury: Moderate to fresh winds, north-easterlies on the coast, north-wester lies inland; cloudy and mild;~rain in the alps, some scattered showers elsewhere late in the day. Outlook: fair to cloudy.
