Press Association—Copyright) ■ NEW YORK, September 1. 1 Top-seeded Ashley Cooper, of 1 Australia, today entered the third round of the United States tennis : Championships after an undistinguished match in which he beat 1 an unseeded American, Irvin Dorfman, 6-1, 6-3, 6-3. Cooper seldom had to exert himself and this lack of pressure had a detrimental effect on his game. In the three sets he served eight double faults while his opponent served none. The third ranking British player, Bobby Wilson, was forced to four sets by John Lesch, United States, before he won, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Fourth-seeded Vic Seixas had to draw on all his skill and court-craft to beat an unseeded United States player, Whitney Reed, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6-2. 6-3. Robert Howe, of Australia, who is not a member of the official team, caused an upset when he knocked out Britain’s top-ranking Michael Davies. 7-5. 1-6, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1. Results:—
