Men’s Basketball N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING
Results On Opening Day (New Zealand Press Association) HAMILTON, Sept. 2. Scores in the New Zealand men’s indoor basketball championships, which opened today in Hamilton, were:— First Division.—Wellington 59, Hawera 25; Auckland Y.M.C.A. 51, Palmerston North 30. Second Division.—Wanganui 49, Stratford 37; Morrinsville 37, .Hawke's Bay 35: Wairarapa 36. Marlborough 34. This national championships next year will be held at Christchurch. This was decided at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Indoor Basketball Association at Hamilton. The North Island open championships will be held at Wellington, the North Island B grade at Hamilton, the South Island open at Otago, and the South Island B at Nelson. The New Zealand selector this year is Mr C. L. S. Cross, the North Island selector Mr B. Willis, and the South Island selector Mr J. Cockburn. Officers elected were:— Patron, Mr C. R. Edmond (North Island); president, Mr C. L. S. Cross; vice-president, Mr G. F. Briggs (South Island), Mr C. C. Curtis; secretary-treasurer. Mr R. Leslie.
