FLEMINGTON WINNER
NICOTINE FOUND IN SALIVA SWAB

A saliva swab taken from Heroic Fair, runaway winner of the Chesterfield Handicap at Flemington on August 17. had shown traces of nicotine, the chief Victoria Racing Club steward (Mr Frank Bullock) announced today. Mr Bullock said- a urine test on the horse proved negative. W. J. Murrell, part-owner and trainer of Heroic Fair, and two stable attendants who were with Heroic Fair at Flemington, have been asked to attend on Monday the adjourned inquiry into the horse’s run.
Murrell was in Brisbane wnen Heroic Fair won the sprint race on August 17, running away from the field for an easy four-length win. At his previous starts the horse had finished eleventh, sixteenth, and ninth.
